It just makes them look like a bigger putz. All of the hassel now just makes it easier for you when it is time to walk away- you won't get all sappy- you will just run with joy and glee!!! I swear to you, I NEVER looked back, and I NEVER missed it. It was good to do, a great experience, but it was time to change our lives. Congrats to you for building such a great place, and for deciding that you were done, and then acting to make a better life for yourself!!! EVERY time I have a sale (usually after Christmas and after summer each year) there are people coming up to me -excitement and malicious pleasure just shining in their eyes- asking me if we are going out of business. And oh the disappointment when I tell them no. I don't know why people are so eager for others to fail. Just ignore the questions, enjoy the last days of having your beautiful shop and look forward to your new life! I understand completely - we had a store and when we closed it I felt I could live again. As for NC - sounds exciting! I did a "best places to retire" quiz once, which took into consideration all our interests and such and the top three spots were in NC! I had never even been there. Why, yes, I love shopping at my competition, they are so much better than my store, please continue to tell me about some other store...sorry to borrow your soap box. I'm envious of your life change and wish you so much luck.
